Quick Update for the upcoming Derby. Our Crew 95 will be doing a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser for their upcoming trip to Philmont this summer. Breakfast will be free but they will be taking donations to help with the cost of the trip. They will start serving around 7:45 in Reed Hall across from the gym.

If you still need help with your car or need to pick up your car, please let us know so we can help!

Along with the normal speed awards, we are adding a Best Gas Mileage Award. This goes to the slowest car that completes all 3 heats. We will also have the below design awards.

Best of Show - Judges favorite overall car

I Made It Myself - Car most obviously made by a scout

The Artistic Speeder - Most creative car

Ohhhh Shiny - Best paint job

Ain't Nothing Like Me - Most unique design

Zoom Zoom - Fastest looking car

The Pinewood Derby will be held Saturday January 18th at BUMC. Registration will be from 8:00 AM till 8:45 AM. We will have our Open class this year for siblings and parents that would like to participate.

Friday evening, January 17th, we will be setting the track up as well as decorating. After setup we will have time available to test run your scout's car for those that helped setup. If you are wanting to test their vehicle, PLEASE help set up. The setup time is still to be determined due to the gym being rented for basketball practice.

I have included the official car rules below. If you have any questions or need assistance, please let your den leader or myself know. We have people available that can help cut out your car if you do not have the tools. The Scout Shop In Hurst at 850 Cannon Dr carries a full stock of car accessories and stickers to help decorate the vehicles as well as tune them. Hobby Lobby also carries some Pinewood Derby accessories on their model car row.

Assistance with getting your car cut will be available on 1/4. Please see the newsletter for more info and to RSVP.

Pre-registration of your scouts vehicle is located at https://forms.gle/9FajVu3ae2zfFqFd8 . This will help speed up check in on race day as well as help us setup the presentation.
